“At the moment, I didn’t see what happened,” Khawaja explained. “I was walking in the other direction, then I just went, ‘Woah.’ I turned around and saw them collide. It was like, what’s going on here?”
Usman Khawaja, ever the team player, described how he tried to manage the situation. “Sammy was on fire, his energy was through the roof,” he said with a smile. “There was a lot of chirping between Sam, Bumrah, and Virat. I liked the intensity, but I didn’t want anything to cross the line into physical contact. So, I told Sam, ‘You focus on batting, let me handle this.’”

“I’ve known Virat a long time. We’ve been mates since he came to the academy when I was in the U-19s. I just told Sam to chill and focus on his batting while I spoke to Virat. That’s where it ended. What goes on the field stays on the field,”Usman Khawaja said, refusing to divulge further details.
