Vaibhav Sooryavanshi announced himself on the big stage in spectacular fashion, smashing a breathtaking 15-ball half-century to power Rajasthan Royals to a dominant eight-wicket win over Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2026. Just days after turning 15, the young prodigy delivered a performance that instantly marked him as one of India’s most exciting emerging talents.

Chasing a modest 128 in Guwahati, Sooryavanshi took complete control of the contest during the powerplay. Facing an attack that included experienced names like Matt Henry and Noor Ahmad, he showcased fearless strokeplay, finishing with a blistering 52 off just 17 balls. His innings, studded with four boundaries and five towering sixes, ensured Rajasthan wrapped up the chase in just 12.1 overs.

Speaking after the match, Sooryavanshi revealed that the team’s strategy was to dominate early. “The plan was to execute well in the powerplay. The pitch seemed a bit sticky at the start, but it got better for batting as the ball got older,” he said. He added, “We wanted to maximise the powerplay. When chasing a small total, that phase can be decisive. We went all out, and it worked.”
