Teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is gearing up for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League, with Rajasthan Royals building excitement around their young star ahead of the 2026 campaign. The franchise recently shared a hype video featuring the 14-year-old prodigy, where he is seen channelling his inner “Dhurandhar.” In the clip, Sooryavanshi dramatically crosses out the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup before writing down the ultimate goal — the IPL trophy.

Having already achieved global success at a remarkably young age, the Bihar-born batter is now determined to bring silverware to the Royals. Sooryavanshi was one of the biggest talking points of IPL 2025 after becoming the tournament’s youngest centurion, showcasing fearless batting against some of the world’s best bowlers.
Earlier this year, he further cemented his reputation by smashing a stunning 175 off just 80 balls in the Under-19 World Cup final against England in Harare. That innings powered India to a record-extending sixth Under-19 World Cup title and confirmed Sooryavanshi’s status as one of the most exciting young talents in world cricket.

With the international triumph behind him, the teenager’s focus has now shifted to IPL 2026 and helping Rajasthan Royals challenge for the title.
“The goal this IPL season is to win the trophy for the team, as it is a very important thing. I want to do well, and my performance will help the whole team. This is my goal — to contribute to RR’s wins and win the trophy for the franchise,” Vaibhav Sooryavanshi told Star Sports during the BCCI Naman Awards.

Sooryavanshi had already made history even before his debut, becoming the youngest player ever to secure an IPL contract when Rajasthan Royals signed him at just 13 years old during the 2024 auction for ₹1.1 crore.
During the same awards ceremony, former Royals captain Sanju Samson recalled Sooryavanshi’s memorable first interaction with former RR head coach Rahul Dravid before his IPL debut.

“I was actually in a meeting at the time. Rahul Sir called him into the room and told me, ‘Sanju, we need to talk to him. He’s just a young kid; we need to guide him on how to go about things.’ So Rahul Sir asked him, ‘Vaibhav, what’s the plan?’ Vaibhav replied, ‘Kuch nahi sir, hum to khelenge.’ Then he asked ‘What is your game plan?’ and Vaibhav was like ‘Agar hume agar pehla mila to hum pehla hi uda denge,’ and I was like yeh alag video game hi khel raha hai,” Sanju Samson said.
Sooryavanshi has also set his sights on rewriting IPL history. “Sir wahi 175 ka record todne ka,” he said, referring to the legendary 175-run record held by Chris Gayle.
