Rajasthan Royals’ teenage sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi once again lit up IPL 2026 with a breathtaking knock against Lucknow Super Giants in a must-win clash at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Tuesday, May 19. Chasing a daunting target of 221, the 15-year-old opener delivered another fearless innings that kept Rajasthan firmly in control of the contest.

Suryavanshi looked in sublime touch right from the start and attacked the LSG bowling unit with remarkable confidence. The left-hander raced to a stunning half-century in just 23 balls, continuing his incredible run in the ongoing IPL season. He brought up the milestone with a single off Digvesh Rathi in the 10th over before unveiling a cryptic celebration, forming the alphabet ‘A’ with his fingers, which quickly grabbed attention on social media.
Opening alongside stand-in skipper Yashasvi Jaiswal, Suryavanshi gave RR the perfect launchpad in the massive chase. The duo stitched together a rapid 75-run opening partnership in only 39 deliveries, putting immediate pressure on the Lucknow bowlers. Jaiswal played an aggressive hand as well, scoring 43 off 23 balls before Akash Singh broke the stand in the seventh over.

Even after Jaiswal’s dismissal, Suryavanshi continued his assault and looked set for a memorable century. The youngster dismantled both pace and spin with ease, displaying maturity far beyond his age. However, he narrowly missed out on a hundred after falling for a sensational 93 off just 38 balls.

The dismissal came on the final ball of the 14th over when Suryavanshi attempted to loft Mohsin Khan down the ground. The slower delivery deceived him slightly, and Abdul Samad completed the catch at long-on.

Despite missing the century, the knock further strengthened Suryavanshi’s position as one of IPL 2026’s breakout stars. The RR opener has now scored 579 runs in 13 innings at an astonishing strike rate of 236.32, making him the leading run-scorer of the season.
At the time of writing, Rajasthan Royals were chased down the score in teh final over with Dhruv Jurel and Donovan Ferreira finishing the game for the hosts.
