Under-19 World Cup star Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was marked absent for his Class 10 CBSE board examination at Podar International School in Bihar on Tuesday, with school authorities confirming the development as per official guidelines. Principal NK Sinha stated that the young cricketer did not report to the examination centre and was marked absent in accordance with CBSE policy.

“We were expecting him to appear, but there could be cricketing commitments or practice sessions. As per rules, if a student does not attend, we have to mark him absent,” Sinha said, adding that he expects Sooryavanshi to appear for the next scheduled paper.

The absence comes at a time when Sooryavanshi’s cricketing career is soaring. The teenage sensation played a defining role in India’s triumph at the ICC Under-19 World Cup, delivering one of the most explosive knocks in tournament history. In the final against England, he smashed a breathtaking 175 off just 80 balls, including 15 fours and 15 sixes. His century came in only 55 deliveries — one of the fastest hundreds ever recorded in the Under-19 World Cup — and powered India to their sixth title.

Already a record-breaker, he became the youngest debutant in IPL history at 14 years and 23 days. He later etched his name into the record books again with a 35-ball century against Gujarat Giants, becoming the fastest Indian to score an IPL hundred, surpassing Yusuf Pathan’s milestone.
Now gearing up for the 2026 IPL season with Rajasthan Royals, Sooryavanshi remains one of Indian cricket’s brightest young prospects.
