Vaibhav Suryavanshi once again gave Rajasthan Royals a blazing start in their IPL 2026 clash against Punjab Kings at the New Chandigarh Stadium on Tuesday, April 28. The left-hander smashed 43 off just 16 balls at a strike rate of 268.75, striking five sixes and three fours in a whirlwind knock that kept RR firmly in control early in the chase.

The highlight of his innings came in the second over when he took on Lockie Ferguson with fearless intent. Ferguson started with a fuller delivery at 145.8 kmph on leg stump, but Suryavanshi simply rolled his wrists and launched a helicopter-style six over deep mid-wicket. The very next ball was a slower-length delivery, and the 15-year-old responded with even more flair, getting forward and lofting it straight down the ground for another maximum.

This was not a one-off burst of power. Suryavanshi has been doing this all season, taking on elite bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah, Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins without hesitation. His recent 36-ball century against Sunrisers Hyderabad only added to the hype around one of IPL 2026’s most exciting young batters.

With that latest assault, Suryavanshi climbed to the top of the season’s run charts. He now has 400 runs in nine innings at a stunning strike rate of 238.09, including a century and two half-centuries. His fearless strokeplay has made him a central figure in RR’s batting unit.

At the time of writing, Rajasthan were 95/1 after eight overs, with Yashasvi Jaiswal batting on 38 off 18 and Dhruv Jurel alongside him. Arshdeep Singh had finally broken the opening stand by dismissing Suryavanshi for 43 after a rapid 51-run partnership.

Earlier, PBKS had posted a strong 222/4, powered by Prabhsimran Singh’s 59, Marcus Stoinis’ unbeaten 62, and useful contributions from Shreyas Iyer, Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly.
