Sitting in the dugout, Sooryavanshi playfully pulled faces, bringing a light-hearted touch to an otherwise intense contest. It was a brief but refreshing glimpse into the youngster’s personality beyond his fearless batting.

However, it wasn’t the best outing for him with the bat. Sooryavanshi was dismissed for a golden duck, becoming the first IPL wicket of debutant Praful Hinge. The SRH pacer had a dream debut, picking up three wickets in his opening over and finishing with impressive figures of 4/34. His spell played a key role in ending Rajasthan Royals’ unbeaten run, as SRH sealed a convincing 57-run win.

Despite this setback, Sooryavanshi’s overall form this season has been exceptional. He has already registered two explosive half-centuries in just four innings, establishing himself as one of the breakout stars of IPL 2026. His fearless approach and ability to dominate quality bowling attacks have not gone unnoticed.

In fact, reports suggest that the young opener is already on the radar of the BCCI selectors for India’s upcoming T20I series against Ireland. If selected, Sooryavanshi could become the youngest player to represent India at the international level, surpassing Shafali Verma.
While Rajasthan Royals suffered a defeat, they remain at the top of the points table with eight points, underlining the strong start they’ve made this season.
