Vaibhav Suryavanshi didn’t just rewrite cricketing records in 2025 — he rewrote the cultural conversation around Indian cricket itself. In a year packed with blockbuster performances across formats, the prodigious left-hander not only dominated the IPL, India A tours, and domestic cricket, but also emerged as India’s most-searched personality of 2025, a staggering rise for someone who is still only 14.

Suryavanshi’s journey from being a 12-year-old Ranji Trophy debutant from Bihar to becoming the face of India’s next-gen talent reached a sensational peak this year. His breakthrough moment came during the Indian Premier League, where he blasted his way into the record books by becoming the youngest male cricketer ever to score a T20 century. His unbeaten 101 off just 38 balls for the Rajasthan Royals against the Gujarat Titans was a spectacle of audacity — 11 monstrous sixes, seven fours, and a hundred reached in a breathtaking 35 deliveries.

It stands as the second-fastest century in the league’s history and the quickest ever by an Indian. His dominance extended well beyond the IPL. Representing India A in the Rising Stars Asia Cup, Suryavanshi produced another jaw-dropping innings — a 32-ball century against UAE studded with 15 sixes and 11 fours. With every match, the teenager showcased a maturity that defied his age, proving he was more than just a viral sensation.

Back home, he continued elevating Bihar cricket with historic milestones. Appointed vice-captain for the opening fixtures of the 2025–26 Ranji Trophy, he became the youngest to hold that role in the tournament’s storied history. His unbeaten 108 off 61 balls in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy made him the youngest player ever to score a hundred in the competition.

According to Google Trends: Year in Search 2025, Suryavanshi topped India’s list of most-searched personalities, beating several established stars. Closely following him were rising talents like Priyansh Arya — standout for Punjab Kings and Delhi — and ICC No. 1 T20I batter Abhishek Sharma. Shaik Rasheed’s presence in the top five highlighted India’s growing youth depth, while Jemimah Rodrigues and Smriti Mandhana reinforced the impact of India’s Women’s World Cup triumph.

The list was heavily dominated by cricket. Priyansh scored 475 runs in his debut IPL season, Ayush Mhatre shone with a 94 off 48 and over 500 first-class runs, while names like Karun Nair, Urvil Patel, and Vignesh Puthur also found massive search traction.

Unsurprisingly, the IPL topped India’s overall trending searches, followed by Google Gemini, the Asia Cup, Champions Trophy, and Pro Kabaddi League. The Asia Cup captured public attention for the wrong reasons, as India–Pakistan clashes were fuelled more by controversy than cricket — from skipped handshakes to symbolic celebrations and post-match protests.

Through all the noise, one story towered over everything: the incredible rise of Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a teenager rewriting what is possible in Indian cricket — and doing it before most players even step into senior domestic cricket.
