Rajasthan Royals’ teenage sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi has quickly become one of the most talked-about names in IPL 2025. The 14-year-old grabbed national attention after smashing a record-breaking century against the Gujarat Titans. But in a world where young stars often embrace the spotlight, Vaibhav has taken a refreshingly grounded approach.

After the innings that lit up the tournament, he received over 500 missed calls — yet chose to keep his phone switched off. His reason? He doesn’t enjoy being the centre of attention. In a candid conversation with former India head coach Rahul Dravid, Vaibhav spoke about his journey and mindset.

“I’ve been preparing for 3–4 years, and finally saw the results. Whatever seemed difficult earlier started feeling easier. Staying focused has been the key,” he said. On the overwhelming response to his century, he added, “Yes, over 500 missed calls! But I switched my phone off. Too many people trying to reach out — I don’t really like that.”

Dravid, while praising the youngster, also reminded him of the challenges that lie ahead. “Next season, the bowlers will be more prepared. So we’ll also have to raise our game — keep training, keep evolving,” Rahul Dravid advised.

Despite the Rajasthan Royals’ disappointing campaign in 2025, Vaibhav has been their brightest spark. The Royals wrapped up their season with a dominant six-wicket win over the Chennai Super Kings.

Chasing 188, Yashasvi Jaiswal gave them a flying start with 36, and Vaibhav followed it up with a classy 33-ball knock. His fearless approach, combined with maturity beyond his years, stood out yet again. Even seasoned bowlers like Ravindra Jadeja found it difficult to tie him down, as Vaibhav punished anything loose. It’s clear — this 14-year-old prodigy isn’t just a flash in the pan, but a name we’ll be hearing for years to come.
