Rajasthan Royals (RR) have begun their preparations for IPL 2025, but the biggest talking point isn’t a seasoned international—it’s their youngest squad member, 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi. The teenage batting sensation made waves at the auction when RR secured him for INR 1.1 crore, making him the youngest cricketer ever to be picked in the IPL.

Now, as he gears up for the season, his aggressive batting in the nets has already caught everyone’s attention. During a recent practice session, Suryavanshi put on a stunning power-hitting display, clearing the boundary multiple times effortlessly.

His fearless approach has earned praise from RR’s management and players, who are focused on ensuring a smooth transition for the young talent. Skipper Sanju Samson has taken a personal interest in mentoring the prodigy, speaking highly of his potential.

“Vaibhav looks very confident; he was hitting sixes out of the ground at the Rajasthan Royals Academy. People were already talking about his power-hitting. What else can you ask for? It’s all about understanding his strengths, backing him, and being there for him like an elder brother. We ensure a positive atmosphere in the dressing room and back our players. I feel he is ready for the IPL,” Sanju Samson said on JioHotstar.

Despite his age, Suryavanshi has already made an impact at the Under-19 level. The Bihar-born batter scored a century against Australia U-19 in a four-day match in Chennai last year, becoming the youngest to achieve this feat in youth cricket. With five first-class games under his belt, IPL 2025 could be the stage where this prodigy truly announces himself to the world.
