Star Indian spinner Varun Chakravarthy has come out in defence of a young contestant on Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) after the fifth-grade student, Ishit Bhatt from Gandhinagar, faced severe online trolling for his perceived rude behaviour toward host Amitabh Bachchan. The incident gained attention after clips from the quiz show went viral, showing Ishit’s interactions during the episode.

During the show, Ishit’s responses were interpreted by many as disrespectful. At one point, he said, “Mere ko rules pata hai isliye aap mereko abhi rules samjhane mat baithna,” indicating he already understood the rules. He also urged the host, “Arre option daalo,” while waiting for the options to appear on screen, and even requested, “Sir ek kya uss mein chaar lock lagado, lekin lock karo,” when confirming his answer.

Ishit’s run on the show ended without any winnings after he incorrectly answered a question about the Valmiki Ramayana, selecting Ayodhya kaand instead of the correct Baal kaand. Responding to the situation, Bachchan commented, “Kabhi kabhi bachhe overconfidence mein galti kar dete hai,” highlighting that overconfidence can lead to mistakes, especially in children.

The viral clips sparked a social media frenzy, with many criticising Ishit’s behaviour and debating parenting styles and the pressures young contestants face on reality TV.

Responding to the backlash, Varun Chakravarthy took to Twitter, writing: “Example of how social media has become a place for cowards running their mouths without any sense. He is a kid for god sake!! Let him grow!! If u can’t tolerate a kid, imagine the society still tolerating many nut cases like the ones commenting on this kid and much more!!!!!”
