In a departure from previous seasons, Kolkata Knight Riders’ co-owner Shahrukh Khan has been a regular presence at the IPL 2024 matches, offering more than just celebrity glamour. Khan’s active involvement, attending most of the matches, and interacting with players post-game, has infused a new sense of motivation and camaraderie within the team. This has not gone unnoticed by the players, with spinner Varun Chakravarthy highlighting the positive impact of having the Bollywood icon in the dressing room.
Varun Chakravarthy emphasized Khan’s supportive demeanour, describing him as understanding and approachable even in the face of the team’s setbacks. The spinner revealed that Khan took the time to individually connect with each player, providing encouragement and uplifting their spirits, regardless of the match outcome.
“SRK has been present in almost all matches in Kolkata. Even in the match where we didn’t do well, he came to the dressing room and spoke to every player for an hour and hugged everyone,” Varun Chakaravarthy shared in an interview with News18.

“He said ‘it’s just a match, cricket is changing, just try to be better in the next match’. This time, I see a massive difference because the way he has been very understanding, he’s been very approachable, it has made a huge impact. I also got to meet him for the first time,” he added.
Despite Mumbai Indians’ early elimination from the playoffs race, Chakravarthy stressed the importance of not underestimating their upcoming opponents. Recognizing MI’s formidable lineup and their potential to turn the game around, he cautioned against complacency.
According to the spinner, MI remains a dangerous side with the ability to clinch victories unpredictably, making it imperative for KKR to maintain focus and prepare diligently for their upcoming clash at Eden Gardens.

“We don’t have any edge over MI because they are out of the tournament. They are a champion side. They are full of stars and match winners, and a very dangerous team anywhere. Even if we have to win one match to qualify, we have to be well-prepared and on our toes and look to finish in top two,” Varun Chakaravarthy asserted.
