Star all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) showcased his love both on and off the field during the 10th match of IPL 2024 against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on March 29th. Following a disappointing start in the tournament against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), where he managed only 7 runs, Venkatesh Iyer made a remarkable comeback against RCB.
Venkatesh Iyer delivered a stellar performance, scoring a vital half-century off just 30 balls. His innings featured 3 fours and 4 sixes, providing a significant boost to the KKR innings.
During his innings, Iyer reached the milestone of fifty runs in the 15th over. It was then that he seized the moment to dedicate his achievement to his fiancée, Shruti Raghunathan, who was present in the stadium. Removing his helmet, Iyer blew a flying kiss towards the KKR dugout, capturing the hearts of fans with his romantic gesture.

In the post-match presentation, Venkatesh Iyer expressed his gratitude towards his fiancée, acknowledging her support. He revealed that he would undergo scans for a back issue he experienced during his innings, highlighting the physical challenges he faced while batting against RCB.

“[on his back] It’s just a little jacked up, have to go and have a scan. To be honest, it got better as the game went on, one end in particular, the Pavilion end and credit to Narine, the pressure was off and we had to go and finish the formalities. It was very important to capitalize on the platform laid, the left-arm spinner was bowling and it was my duty to go after the bowling,” said Venkatesh Iyer.
Furthermore, Iyer praised RCB pacer Vijaykumar Vyshak for his exceptional bowling performance, acknowledging the challenge he posed during the match.

“Vyshak bowled really well, used the change-ups nicely. To face him was a little tough, pace off on that pitch in totality was tough. even when we bowled quick deliveries, it was tough,” he remarked.
Despite facing stiff competition from RCB, KKR emerged victorious, securing a 7-wicket win and breaking the winning streak of home teams in IPL 2024. Venkatesh Iyer’s remarkable innings and heartfelt celebration added a touch of romance to the thrilling encounter at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
