Vijay Shankar Dismisses Suryakumar Yadav After Being Smashed For A Six

After a promising start after deciding to bat first, Mumbai Indians (MI) suffered blows in the back-to-back over of the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), all-rounder, Vijay Shankar, who managed to get the wickets of Rohit Sharma and Suryadre decision to bat first, Vijay Shankar struck twice to peg the Mumbai Indians back. Vijay Shankar delivered the first breakthrough for SRH by dismissing Rohit for a 24-ball 32 in his opening over and proceeded to remove the dangerman, Suryakumar Yadav.

Shankar took a reflex catch off his own bowling to get rid of Yadav. The latter had opened his account with a boundary through the mid-off. In Vijay Shankar’s second over, the right-handed batsman collected a lofted six over extra cover. But the all-rounder managed to make a comeback as Yadav drove it straight back to the bowler. It was indeed a soft dismissal and one that could help them put the brakes on Mumbai Indians.

Earlier, Shankar had dismissed as the wicket came on the third ball of the seventh over. On a track where a change of pace has proved to be a potent option for bowlers, Shankar employed the same to brilliant effect. Rohit, who had taken the liking to the mid-wicket region, decide to get far another pull shot but with Vijay Shankar offering no pace, the ‘Hitman’ ended up giving a straight catch to the debutant Virat Singh at deep midwicket.

Earlier, Mumbai Indians elected to bat first after winning the toss and they made one change in their squad by replacing paceman Adam Milne for Marco Jansen. On the other hand, SRH made as many as four changes to their line-up as they look for their first victory of IPL 2021. In their playing XI, Virat Singh, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Khaleel Ahmed, and Abhishek Sharma came in for for Wriddhiman Saha, Jason Holder, T Natarajan, and Shahbaz Nadeem.
