After losing the T20I series 0-2 against Australia at home, Team India was looking to have a great start in the five-match series which commenced on Saturday a the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. After winning the toss, the Australian skipper, Aaron Finch decided to bat first and the Indian skipper, Virat Kohli expressed that Kuldeep Yadav, Vijay Shankar, and Mohammed Shami have been included in the squad.

The Aussies had a rough start as they lost their skipper in the second over of the game itself for a duck as Jasprit Bumrah proved to be just too good for him. However, Usman Khawaja and Marcus Stoinis then steadied the ship for the visitors by making an 87-run partnership for the second wicket before the dismissal of Stoinis (37) in the 21st over.

However, after his partner’s dismissal, Khawaja also failed to last long Kuldeep dismissed him in the 24th over itself and hence, the Aussies were reeling at 97/3, but a lot of credit for that dismissal goes to Shankar for his brilliant catch in the deep.

Kuldeep delivered a length ball and the batsman was quick enough to come down the track to hog it over mid-wicket boundary, Khawaja made decent contact with his uppish flick but got the placement wrong, but he had played it straight towards midwicket fielder. Vijay Shankar does well to run towards his right, position himself perfectly, and take a very brilliant catch.

It can surely be termed as Shankar’s wicket, more than Kuldeep Yadav’s wicket. It was a timely wicket for India that too in quick succession. Khawaja (50) as he departed after notching up a fine half-century.
