Vijaykumar Vyshak, the Karnataka and Punjab Kings (PBKS) fast bowler, recently reacted to a viral video featuring Arshdeep Singh, where the left-arm pacer was seen urging PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer to bring Vyshak on as an impact player. The moment took place during PBKS’s clash against Gujarat Titans (GT) when Vyshak was introduced after the 13th over. At that stage, GT needed 91 runs from seven overs with eight wickets in hand, making the chase very much within reach.

Stepping in during the 15th over, Vyshak immediately put Gujarat under pressure with disciplined bowling. He conceded just ten runs in his first two overs—four of which came from wides—restricting the flow of runs when GT were looking to accelerate. His tight lines and smart execution played a crucial role in swinging the momentum back in Punjab’s favor.
As the game concluded in PBKS’s thrilling 11-run victory, a clip of Arshdeep animatedly signaling to Shreyas Iyer about Vyshak’s inclusion went viral across social media. Reacting to this, Vyshak expressed his delight at the faith Arshdeep had in him.

“I also saw the video—someone showed me Arshdeep signalling my name. It was really nice to see that, and I’m grateful for the opportunity. I’ve worked a lot on my yorkers with him in training, and he’s seen me execute them well. I think that’s why he trusted me. It’s always great to have that kind of belief from your teammates,” Vijaykumar Vyshak told Times of India.

The 26-year-old also opened up about his approach to the game, highlighting how the PBKS management encouraged him to bowl wide yorkers without worrying about extras.
“The pitch was great for batting—the ball was coming on well—so we decided to take the wider route to the batsmen. Once we saw it was effective, I wasn’t too worried about the wides. The captain and Ricky (Ponting) gave me full freedom. They told me, ‘Do whatever you want, as long as you’re fully committed to your plan.’ That kind of backing makes a huge difference,” Vijaykumar Vyshak added.

Although Vyshak’s final over proved slightly expensive—going for 18 runs—his overall spell of 0/28 in three overs was instrumental in keeping GT in check. Chasing a mammoth 244-run target, Gujarat ultimately fell short, managing 232/5 in their 20 overs. His performance was a testament to the importance of belief, strategy, and execution under pressure.
