Gujarat Titans’ ace pacer Kagiso Rabada has found himself in the middle of a controversy after it was revealed that he tested positive for a recreational drug during the SA20 league earlier this year. The revelation explains his sudden departure from the IPL 2025 last month, where he was absent from the Titans’ squad for nearly four weeks.

Now back in India, Rabada has returned to the Gujarat Titans fold after serving a 30-day suspension. Speaking on the issue, GT Director of Cricket Vikram Solanki extended full support to the South African speedster. Solanki stressed that Rabada has taken responsibility for his actions and is eager to move forward.
“Firstly, Kagiso has shown regret for an error in judgement,” Vikram Solanki said during a press interaction on Monday. “His public statement was heartfelt and showed the kind of person he is. He’s admitted to his mistake and is now focused on returning to what he does best—playing cricket. We’re just happy to see him back, both at practice and as a part of our group. He’s served his time, and we’re ready to move forward.”

Solanki was also quick to underline that all procedures in the case were followed properly and transparently.
“Every necessary step has been followed in line with protocol—from Kagiso himself to his representatives. We’ve been mindful of the emotional toll this has taken on him. Now that he has completed the suspension, it’s about letting him do what he loves again. He’s earned that opportunity,” Vikram Solanki added.

While such off-field events can disrupt team focus, Vikram Solanki emphasised that the Gujarat Titans stand firmly behind their player.
“Yes, things like this can be a distraction,” he acknowledged. “But Kagiso has been very clear—he doesn’t want this to take attention away from the team or the game. He’s dealing with it personally, and from the franchise’s end, it’s our duty to support our players—whether they’re facing a dip in form or personal setbacks. Kagiso has our full backing.”

His pace, experience, and presence will be crucial as the tournament enters its final stretch, and the Titans look to solidify their playoff push.
