Former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli has been discharged from Mumbai’s Akruti Hospital after a health scare in December. The 52-year-old, known for his flamboyant batting during the 1990s, was admitted on December 21 due to complications arising from a urinary infection and muscle cramps. However, his condition escalated when tests revealed clots in his brain, raising concerns among his family and fans.

Kambli’s recovery was overseen by Dr. Shailesh Thakur, the hospital’s director and an ardent admirer of the former cricketer. Dr. Thakur played a pivotal role in ensuring Kambli’s safe return to health and personally accompanied him home upon discharge. Speaking to the media, Kambli expressed his gratitude towards the medical staff, particularly Dr. Thakur, for their unwavering support.

“This doctor made me fit, and I had promised that I wouldn’t leave until I was fully recovered,” Vinod Kambli said. In high spirits, Kambli humorously added, “I will show everyone at Shivaji Park that Vinod Kambli is back and won’t leave cricket. During my time here, I practiced cricket and hit only fours and sixes!”

He also used the opportunity to share a heartfelt message for his fans. “Enjoy life and the new year. Stay away from alcohol,” he advised, showcasing a commitment to healthier living.
