Yesterday night, the points-table topper Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) suffered their second consecutive defeat after the hosts Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) claimed an important 14-run victory against them at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.

SRH captain Kane Williamson sent RCB to bat first after winning the toss. RCB batsmen dominated the visiting bowlers as they put a huge total of 218/6 on the board at the end of 20 overs. In reply, Kane Williamson and Manish Pandey’s huge partnership brought SRH to the closer of their target. However, they ultimately failed to get that as they were restricted on 204/3 in 20 overs.

With this win, Royal Challengers Bangalore have managed to stitch a winning streak of three matches. The win has kept their hopes of qualifying for the playoffs alive and the slogan “E Saala Cup Naam de” relevant. The Captain Virat Kohli was, of course, happy with how the team has performed and was jubilant in the post-match interview.

Speaking to Harsha Bhogle at the post-match presentation, Kohli said, “Teams don’t want us to win. That is a great position to be in. We sense fear and pounce. That has been the case. I have seen many of these games before. Just had to stay calm at the end of it. After a point of time, you need to understand that the bowlers are in control of what they want to do. We have two games like this. The one against Mumbai was something similar.”

RCB will be next playing their match against Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur. Both the teams are leveled on points and thus a win here will help one team sneak above the other in the final tally. Resurgent Bangalore team will be hoping to pin down Rajasthan team that has lost its key players.

Kohli also spoke about AB De Villiers and his stunning catch. He said. “That was Spiderman stuff (about ABD’s catch). You don’t do that as normal human beings. I thought it was going for a six but he pulled it off. I thought it was going for a six, but he pulls it out, then the jump and then the balance”
