The Indian skipper, Virat Kohli took to social media on Thursday to extend birthday wishes to his deputy and star opener Rohit Sharma. Wishes have been pouring in for Rohit who has been celebrating his 33rd birthday on Thursday. Rohit, unlike the last few years, has been spending his special day at home, with his wife Ritika Sajdeh and daughter Samaira in his time away from competitive cricket which remains suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Talking to Twitter, Kohli wrote: “Happy B’day Rohit @ImRo45. God bless you with good health and happiness and many more elegant innings. Stay safe stay healthy.”

Earlier in the day, Sharma’s opening partner Shikhar Dhawan posted a heartfelt message to the birthday boy. He tweeted: “Happy birthday partner @ImRo45, hope you keep striking the ball out of the ground as clean as a shooting star.”

Rohit holds the record for the highest individual score in ODIs. He had surpassed the mark against Sri Lanka when he smashed 264 runs in Kolkata in 2014. Rohit, who captains Mumbai Indians, is the most successful captain in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He has led the Mumbai-based franchise to four IPL titles.

In the 2019 World Cup, Rohit went on to amass as many as five centuries and finished the tournament as the leading run-scorer. He is also one of the three Indian batsmen who have scored a century in Tests, ODIs, and T20Is. Suresh Raina and KL Rahul are the other two Indian batsmen who have achieved this feat in international cricket.

The Hitman, as he is so often referred to, has played 224 ODIs so far for India. He has 29 centuries and 43 half-centuries under his belt. He had scored six centuries in the longest format as well.
