India skipper Virat Kohli recently received the CNN-News18’s Indian of the Year award for his awe-inspiring heroics in 2017, has spoken his heart out and named himself as a “typical” Delhi boy.
In the 2nd Test against Sri Lanka in Nagpur, Virat recorded his 5th double hundred which also happens to be his 51st hundred in international cricket. Talking to Indian TV, about his personality, he said, “I am a typical Delhi boy at heart. Wherever I might be in life, I always remember where I come from and what I have gone through to be where I am. That never goes away from me.”
Talking about being adjudged as the winner of CNN-News18’s Indian of the Year award to go with the popular choice award, Kohli said: “It is difficult to express what I’m going through right now. Wherever I might be in life, I always remember where I come from. I have no expectations and no milestones. I just go out there to do my duty. For me the joy of life is seeing the ball hitting the middle of the bat.”
Kohli is enjoying the purple patch in his career as he recently completed the landmark of 32 ODI centuries and became the 2nd highest century-makers in ODIs, only behind the batting legend Sachin Tendulkar, who has scored 49 ODI tons.
