Indian cricket legend Virat Kohli has expressed his humility by stating that he does not consider himself the GOAT (greatest of all time) in the game, despite his outstanding career. Kohli, who is celebrating his 35th birthday on November 5, 2023, is widely regarded as one of the greatest batsmen of all time, having scored over 26,000 runs in international cricket with an average of over 50.

In a conversation on Star Sports, Kohli was asked if he considers himself a GOAT. The 34-year-old humbly responded by saying that he doesn’t view himself as the greatest, suggesting that he is not the GOAT. “You know you’re a GOAT?” the host asked. “Nah yaar, I’m not that GOAT and all. I’m not the greatest,” Virat Kohli replied.

Kohli’s humility is refreshing, especially in an era where many athletes are quick to proclaim their greatness. Kohli is instead focused on his team’s success and on continuing to perform well at the highest level.

As Kohli celebrates his 35th birthday, he has the chance to make it even more special by equaling Sachin Tendulkar’s record for the most centuries in ODIs. Kohli’s coach, Rahul Dravid, has praised the batsman for his relaxed and focused approach to the game. Dravid said that Kohli is not overly concerned about his own records and is instead focused on winning the tournament for India.

“I think Virat’s been really relaxed and as you can see in his performances, you know, batting really well for us, really keen to do well as he always is. So, look, I haven’t noticed anything different. He’s always been the same,” Rahul Dravid said.

“He’s always been professional, always been hardworking, always been switched on. So, nothing different. And no, I don’t really think he’s thinking too much about 49 and 50, and probably certainly not about his birthday getting a year older. But no, I think he’s been really focused on winning the tournament and playing some good cricket for us. I think he’s doing that really well,” he added.

Kohli is a role model for cricketers all over the world, and his humility and focus are two of the many things that make him so special.
