Before their highly anticipated IPL 2025 opener against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the iconic Eden Gardens, Virat Kohli was seen demonstrating his prowess during a practice session. The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) sensation looked calm but intense as he juggled the ball off his bat with incredible control.
The franchise posted the clip on their social media, which caught the eye of fans waiting to see Kohli in action this season. On March 20, Kohli was given a tough net session by experienced pacers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood. Though he dealt well with Hazlewood’s speed, Bhuvneshwar’s guileous swing troubled the ex-RCB skipper.

With his ability to adjust, Kohli attempted to counter the movement by moving out of his crease, but a couple of deliveries beat him. It was a sneak peek into the hectic preparations that RCB is in the process of as they seek to get off to a solid start this season.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has also scheduled a star-studded opening ceremony to usher in IPL 2025 with fanfare. Bollywood actress Disha Patani and singer Shreya Ghoshal will perform in front of the crowd before the thrilling encounter between RCB and KKR. However, there are concerns about weather disruption.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange Alert for Saturday, forecasting thunderstorms and heavy rain, with a Yellow Alert for the next day.

As per AccuWeather, the probability of rain on match day is 74%, with the possibility of cloud cover at 97%. During the slated match timings, the chances of rain go up to 90%, causing concern over a delayed start or a washout. In spite of the ambiguity, Eden Gardens’ sophisticated drainage system promises hope, and spectators are hopeful of a suspenseful beginning to IPL 2025.
