Ace India batter Virat Kohli, accompanied by his wife Anushka Sharma, was spotted seeking spiritual blessings on Tuesday, just days ahead of his expected return to domestic cricket in the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy for Delhi. Instead of engaging with speculation around a potential meeting with Argentine football icon Lionel Messi, Kohli chose a quieter, more personal path, reinforcing his long-standing inclination toward spiritual grounding.

The couple visited Premanand Ji Maharaj at his ashram, Shri Hit Radha Keli Kunj, located at Varah Ghat in Vrindavan. Away from cameras and public attention, Kohli and Anushka were seen attentively listening during a calm spiritual discourse. Videos from the visit quickly surfaced on social media, offering fans a glimpse into a side of the star cricketer that prioritises inner balance over headlines.
This marked Kohli and Anushka’s third visit to Vrindavan in 2025, underlining the town’s growing importance in their personal lives. The visit came shortly after their return from the United Kingdom. It coincided with Lionel Messi’s high-profile arrival in India for his multi-city tour, further highlighting Kohli’s preference for reflection over spectacle.

On the cricketing front, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to hold its 31st Apex Council Annual General Meeting online, where several key decisions are expected. One of the major talking points will be the central contracts of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, both of whom have stepped away from Test and T20I cricket over the past year and are now available only for ODIs.

In that context, India’s current Test and ODI captain Shubman Gill could be promoted to the prestigious A-plus contract category, alongside senior all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah. Gill’s elevation would reflect his growing leadership role across formats.

The AGM will also address revised remuneration for umpires and match referees, along with updates to the board’s digital initiatives. Notably, this will be the first Apex Council meeting since the recent administrative reshuffle, with Mithun Manhas taking charge as BCCI president and Raghuram Bhatt assuming the role of treasurer, signalling a new phase in Indian cricket governance.
