Just a day after Virat Kohli stunned the cricketing world by announcing his retirement from Test cricket, he and his wife, Anushka Sharma, were seen in Vrindavan seeking spiritual solace. The couple visited the ashram of their longtime spiritual guide, Premanand Maharaj, on Tuesday morning. A video from their visit has since gone viral on social media, capturing a quiet yet deeply reflective moment between the couple and their guru.

In the video, Premanand Maharaj asks the couple, “Prasann ho?” (Are you happy?), to which Virat and Anushka respond with a calm nod and a smile. The serene exchange is followed by a heartfelt message from the guru on the essence of devotion, humility, and spiritual growth. He emphasised that true blessings are not measured by fame or wealth, but by one’s inner transformation.

This marked Kohli’s third visit to Premanand Maharaj — his earlier ones took place on January 4, 2023, and January 10, 2025. Interestingly, just moments before making his retirement public, the couple was spotted at Mumbai Airport, heading to Delhi — a move that now seems in line with seeking peace and clarity before such a monumental decision.

In his retirement statement, Kohli reflected on his 14-year Test journey, saying, “This format tested me, shaped me, and taught me lessons I’ll carry for life… It’s not easy to step away, but it feels right.” He expressed immense gratitude for the game, his teammates, and fans, signing off with, “I’ll always look back at my Test career with a smile.”
The visit to Vrindavan and Kohli’s words reflect not just a farewell to cricket in whites, but a moment of introspection, grace, and spiritual grounding.
