In the India vs. Bangladesh clash in the ongoing Asia Cup, even though Virat Kohli was rested for the game, he managed to make headlines with his on-field presence and activities. India won the toss and chose to bowl first, making five changes to their playing XI, which included resting Virat Kohli along with Hardik Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, and Jasprit Bumrah.
Suryakumar Yadav, Shardul Thakur, Prasidh Krishna, Shami, and Tilak Varma were the players brought into the team, with Varma making his ODI debut for India. Before the match began, Rohit Sharma presented Varma with his debut cap.
Despite being benched for the game, Virat Kohli was active on the field. He was spotted getting drinks for his teammates during the Bangladesh innings. Furthermore, during the Indian innings, Kohli engaged in practice sessions, displaying his dedication and commitment to the team. Hardik Pandya, the Indian vice-captain, was also seen warming up.

Bangladesh, after losing four wickets early, managed to post a competitive total of 265/8 in their 50 overs. Shakib and Towhid formed a crucial partnership, adding 101 runs for the sixth wicket. The Tigers received valuable contributions from Nasum Ahmed (44), Mahedi Hasan (29), and Tanzim Hasan Sakib (14 off 8), allowing them to reach a respectable total. India now needed 266 runs to maintain their unbeaten streak in the tournament.
However, India’s chase got off to a shaky start as Rohit Sharma, the tournament’s leading run-scorer until then with 194 runs, was dismissed in the very first over. Tilak Varma, making his ODI debut, also fell quickly, scoring just five runs. India was left to rebuild their innings, with Shubman Gill taking charge.
