This gathering occurred on the eve of a historic match where India is set to face the USA for the first time in international cricket. A win at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York would secure India a spot in the Super Eight. Ahead of this highly-anticipated clash, the Indian consulate in New York hosted the Indian cricket team. Among the notable attendees was Indra Nooyi, a prominent business icon of Indian origin.

The event also featured a special moment when former India captain Virat Kohli was photographed sitting next to Nooyi. This image has garnered significant attention on social media, with one ‘X’ user commenting, “My two heroes,” underscoring the profound impact both individuals have made in their respective fields.

The reception was organized by India’s Consul General in New York, Binaya Srikanta Pradhan, to welcome the Indian cricket team during their stay in the United States for the T20 World Cup. The event saw enthusiastic participation from the Indian diaspora in New York, who extended a warm welcome to the contingent led by skipper Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid.

Key officials from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) were also in attendance, including President Roger Binny, Secretary Jay Shah, and Vice President Rajeev Shukla.
