Team India cricketer Akash Deep made a memorable impact during the first innings of the ongoing Test match against Bangladesh with a remarkable shot that left the dressing room in awe. The lower-order batter executed a classic off-drive reminiscent of Sachin Tendulkar, drawing admiration from Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and the coaching staff, including head coach Gautam Gambhir.

India resumed play on the second day at 339/6, with Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja at the crease. However, Jadeja was unable to add to his overnight score, falling for 86 off 124 balls in the first session. Taskin Ahmed, Bangladesh’s star pacer, took the key wicket, leaving India to depend on the lower order to extend their innings.

Akash Deep stepped up with a brilliant off-drive that captured the attention of his teammates and fans alike. On the fifth ball of the 86th over, bowled by Hasan Mahmud, Akash elegantly leaned into the shot, driving the ball to the boundary. The execution, timing, and placement of the shot had the Indian dugout cheering, recognizing the skill on display from the tailender.

The story of India’s innings, however, began on Day 1 with Ravichandran Ashwin’s determined effort. After Bangladesh’s pacers, particularly Hasan Mahmud, dismantled India’s top order by dismissing Rohit Sharma (6), Shubman Gill (0), Virat Kohli (6), and Rishabh Pant (39), India found themselves in dire straits. At 144/6, the team was in trouble until Ashwin and Jadeja steadied the ship.

Yashasvi Jaiswal’s earlier contribution of 56 provided some relief, but Ashwin’s resilient century shifted the momentum. Ashwin’s unbeaten 102, alongside Jadeja’s 86, formed a 195-run partnership, rescuing India and taking them to a respectable 339/6 by the end of the first day.
