Virat Kohli Applauded Harpreet Brar For His Brilliant Spell

The Punjab Kings (PBKS) left-arm spinner, Harpreet Brar garnered a lot of limelight with his match-winning spell against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) which helped his team to registered a 34-run win in the 26th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Friday.

Brar scalped crucial wickets in his four-over spell as he dismissed RCB skipper Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, and AB de Villiers in a matter of 7 balls at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. After the match, IPL’s official handle posted a video in which the RCB skipper, Virat Kohli can be seen giving the young left-arm spinner a pat on the back after his superb spell.

Brar cleaned up Kohli to pick up his first wicket in IPL in the 11th over of the chase. The left-arm spinner then beat the defense of Glenn Maxwell and castled him on the very next delivery.

In his next over, Brar also got the wicket of AB de Villiers to hit one straight into the hands of KL Rahul at short extra cover. He finished with figures of three for 19. In the match, after being asked to bat first by the RCB skipper, Punjab Kings posted a competitive total of 179 for five from their allotted 20 overs.

Punjab Kings’ skipper KL Rahul was brilliant with the bat as he played an unbeaten knock of 91. He got some apt support from Chris Gayle who smashed 46 runs off just 24 deliveries.

A late cameo from Brar, who finished the innings with a six off Harshal Patel, shifted the momentum in Punjab Kings’ favor. In reply, RCB never managed to get in eth game as they kept on losing wickets at regular intervals. The Virat Kohli-led side eventually fell 34 runs short.
