Cricket and Bollywood go hand in hand and what could be better than a movie on India’s historic World Cup win in 1983? However, the movie ’83’ has released on Friday and already earned a lot of praise from everyone. While Ranveer Singh brilliantly portrayed former India’s world-cup winning captain Kapil Dev’s character in the movie, Team India’s Test captain Virat Kohli has also shared his views on it.

However, Team India are all set to play a three-match Test series against South Africa, starting tomorrow. And, after watching the movie, he has opined on Twitter as well. “Couldn’t have relived the most iconic moment of Indian cricket history in a better manner. A fantastically made movie which immerses you in the events and the emotion of the world cup in 1983. Splendid performances as well. @RanveerOfficial was a different level altogether. Great job everyone! @therealkapildev @kabirkhankk”, Virat Kohli tweeted.

Earlier, former Team India coach Ravi Shastri had also shared his views on ’83’, citing that he had tears in his eyes when he was watching the movie. “I had tears in my eyes yesterday. Not because I was part of the team that won it. I really had tears in my eyes when the film got over, because it brought back so many memories,” Shastri had said to Indian Express.

Shastri also praised filmmaker Kabir Khan and all the actors for doing a stunning job in recreating one of the most cherished as well as memorable memories of Indian cricket as well.

“The cast, the efforts they put in… Ranveer (Singh) as Kapil Dev. Kabir and all the cast there; they worked their backsides off to try and look like the characters they were playing. To put real life into reel life is not that easy. And I thought they did a fabulous job. Memories came flooding in again, when certain scenes were shown and that got tears to your eyes. This is must-watch for everyone. Get to the theatres,” he had further shared.
