Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) registered a crucial win over Delhi Capitals (DC) by 23 runs in their latest Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match on Saturday, April 15. Virat Kohli played a match-winning knock of 50 off 34 to bag the Player of the Match award. But after the game, Kohli attracted fans’ attention when he was seen ignoring the chance to shake hands with DC’s advisor Sourav Ganguly after the game. Ganguly also seemed not interested in greeting Kohli as the duo avoided any kind of interaction.

There has reportedly been a rift between the two former Indian skippers. Sourav Ganguly was the President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) when Kohli was forced to resign from ODI captain of Team India. The duo made some contradictory statements later, which further fuelled the speculations of a rift between them during Ganguly’s tenure.

Here is the video of the incident:

Virat Kohli first shook hands with Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting and the duo engaged in a small conversation. Meanwhile, Ganguly walked past the duo as he chose not to shake hands with former RCB skipper. Kohli also did not make any effort to stop Ganguly and went on to shake hands with Ajit Aagarkar.

Kohli’s fight with Ganguly started back in 2021 when India toured South Africa. Ganguly was the BCCI chief back then while Kohli had just relinquished his T20I captaincy.

Following Kohli’s stepping down as the captain, Sourav Ganguly had stated that the BCCI asked the star batter to stay in the role. In reply to this, Kohli refuted Ganguly’s comments. Post that, Kohli was removed from the ODI captaincy. He eventually stepped down as Test captain too in January 2022 after India lost to South Africa in the Test series.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli continued his red-hot form with his third fifty in four innings in IPL 2023 as Bangalore posted a challenging total while batting first at M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Delhi’s top-order failed to do much again but an impressive fifty from Manish Pandey kept them alive in the chase. Vyshak Vijaykumar took three wickets for 20 on his IPL debut and Mohammed Siraj picked two to restrict Delhi to 151/9.
