Virat Kohli Breaks Another Bunch Of Records With His Double Century

India captain Virat Kohli has added another blazing feather into his already distinguished cap as he thumped a blazing double century on the third day of the second Test against Sri Lanka at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur on Sunday. It was his 5th Test century as a captain as well as a batsman.

Earlier in the day, Kohli completed his 19th Test century off just 139 balls against an inexperienced Lankan bowling attack and surpassed legendary batsman Sunil Gavaskar in the list of most Test centuries by an Indian skipper.

The Nagpur hundred is Kohli’s 12th as skipper in the longest format of the game, one more than Gavaskar. Mohammed Azharuddin is next on the list with 9 tons, followed by Tendulkar who had 7. MS Dhoni, Sourav Ganguly, and MAK Pataudi had all scored 5 centuries in Test matches they had captained.

Earlier, Kohli also equaled the record of legendary Windies batsman Brian Lara of scoring most number of Test double centuries as the skipper, he also surpassed Sir Don Bradman in the same record.

With the help of this latest century, Virat also became the skipper ever to score 10 centuries across formats in a calendar year. Kohli broke the record of Ricky Ponting (9 in 2005 and 2006) and Graeme Smith (9 in 2005) to set this latest milestone.
