On Sunday morning, Indian skipper Virat Kohli hit his 25th Test century in the ongoing Perth Test against the hosts Australia.
The visitors India started the day three of the second Test of the series on their overnight score of 172/3. Though the Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane was dismissed in the very first over of the day, without adding any runs on his last day score (51), it didn’t affect on Kohli’s confidence who started the day on his overnight score 82 runs.

The 30-year-old right-handed batsman completed his century in 214 balls and now he is carrying the team’s innings.

- Indian skipper Virat Kohli hits his 25th Test century.
- Playing his 127th Test innings, Kohli completed his 25th Test century. The second fastest (according to no.of innings) to complete the first 25 Test centuries. The record holder is Sir Donald Bradman (Australia) who had achieved that feat in just 68 Test innings. Kohli surpassed Sachin Tendulkar (India), who is at no.3 position in this list after achieving this feat in 130 Test innings.
- Kohli completed his century in 214 balls. The second slowest Test century for Kohli. His slowest one is completing it in 289 balls against England at Nagpur in December 2012.
- Kohli’s 10th century in international cricket on the Australian soil. Most number of international centuries by a non-Australian batsman on the Australian soil. The previous record was nine by the former English batsmen David Gower and Sir Jack Hobbs.
- First Asian batsman to score Test centuries in South Africa, England and Australia in the same calendar year.
- Kohli’s fourth Test century as captain on the Australian soil. He equals the record of most Test centuries by a visiting captain on the Australian soil. Former West Indies skipper Clive Llyod had also hit four Test centuries as a captain on the Australian soil.
- Kohli’s 34th century in international cricket as captain. The second most number of international centuries as captain. The record holder is Ricky Ponting (Australia/ICC World XI) who had hit 41 international centuries as captain. Meanwhile, Kohli surpassed Graeme Smith (South Africa/Africa XI) who had hit 33 international centuries as captain.
- Kohli’s 10th Test century as captain outside the home soil. The second most number of Test centuries by a captain outside the home soil. The record holder is Graeme Smith (South Africa) who had hit 17 Test centuries as captain outside the home soil.
- Kohli’s sixth Test century in Australia. Joint third most number of Test centuries by a visiting batsman on the Australian soil. The top two record holders in this list are former English batsmen Sir Jack Hobbs (9 Test centuries in Australia) and Wally Hammond (7 Test centuries in Australia).
