Delhi team management as named the Indian skipper Virat Kohli in their probable squad for the premier domestic tournament Ranji Trophy 2018-19. Along with him, Ishant Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Rishabh Pant, Gautam Gambhir, Navdeep Saini are few of the players who get into the team. In a statement released earlier, Delhi management has asked the players to report at Feroz Shah Kotla stadium on September 5.
However, Kohli, Sharma, and Pant will not be able to attend the camp due to India duties. Furthermore, Saini, who is a part of India A side will also not attend the camp. Meanwhile, the selectors are yet to name the skipper of the team. Last year, they named Virat as the captain; however, he didn’t play any game. Ishant Sharma led the team whenever he was available for selection. In place of Ishant, Pant was captaining the squad while Pradeep Sangwan did the job in the limited-overs.

Delhi will have to find an assistant for Ishant in the first-class format. Pant is likely to unavailable for the most part of this season due to Test commitments. While Sangwan can take the job in the limited-overs format, Delhi lacks a quality leader in the first-class cricket.
However, in the current scenario, there are certain chances that Gautam Gambhir will be leading the squad again in the upcoming season of the 2018-19 season. Last year he decided to give up his role which gave a chance for Ishant to make his captaincy debut. Delhi have also named Manjot Kalra in the probable squad for the Ranji Trophy 2018-19. Kalra gained fame after his unbeaten hundred in the U19 World Cup against Australia in New Zealand.
