Virat Kohli will be crucial for India in the chase, as he played a rollicking innings in the last match, smashing 85 runs and winning the game for his side when they were tumbling at 2/3. Virat Kohli is on the verge of creating history. He is just three tons away from equaling Sachin Tendulkar’s record of most centuries in ODIs.

Kohli has smashed 47 tons so far, while Tendulkar ended his career with 49 hundreds. Ricky Ponting, the former Australian captain, believes that Kohli will definitely equal the record in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023. He added that the Indian batter deserves all this as he has been doing a lot of hard work.

Speaking on the latest episode of The ICC Review podcast, he explained: “I think he’s going to get there (equal Tendulkar’s record of most centuries in ODIs). He’s in such good form, and he’s so hungry for runs. He’s been working really hard, and it’s showing in his batting. I’m sure he’ll get there in this World Cup.”

Kohli is one of the most successful batsmen in the history of ODI cricket. He has scored over 12,000 runs in this format, at an average of over 50. He has also smashed 43 centuries, which is the most by any player in the world. If Kohli does manage to equal Tendulkar’s record in this World Cup, it will be a remarkable achievement. It will be a testament to his talent, hard work, and dedication.
