Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s impressive IPL 2026 run has been accompanied by an emotional off-field moment, as long-serving physiotherapist Evan Speechly officially stepped away from his role. The franchise shared a heartfelt video where captain Rajat Patidar honoured him with a Seiko Prospex watch, recognising his incredible contribution since joining the team back in 2008.

Speechly’s farewell struck a deeply personal note within the RCB camp. Addressing the players, he reflected on his journey and the bond he shares with the franchise. “I must say when I walked into the hotel yesterday, it felt like I was coming home,” he said. He also acknowledged the long-standing relationships within the setup, mentioning how familiar faces made the environment special.

“Everybody in world cricket would love to spend at least one season here. All I can say I still feel I’m part of RCB as I always have. Thank you everybody, very much.”

It underlined how Speechly’s role extended far beyond just physio duties. In response, the RCB camp also expressed their gratitude, highlighting his impact on both a professional and personal level.

Speechly’s career spans decades, having worked with multiple teams across sports, including South African rugby, hockey, swimming, and even Team India, where he served as physiotherapist from 2011.
Meanwhile, on the field, RCB continue to build momentum. The defending champions sit second on the table with six wins in 10 matches and are set to face Lucknow Super Giants next, aiming to strengthen their title defence.
