The 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is scheduled to be commencing on March 26 and fans can’t keep their calm. This year’s tournament will be a grand affair with two new teams – Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans – coming into the picture, making IPL 2022 a competition between 10 teams. Another reason why IPL 2022 will be different from previous seasons is that neither Virat Kohli nor MS Dhoni will be playing as the captain of their respective teams.

While Kohli had resigned as the captain of the RCB following the conclusion of the last season, MS Dhoni stepped down from the role on the eve of the opening clash of IPL 2022. Nonetheless, the two cricketing stalwarts will continue to offer their services as players. Meanwhile, on Friday (March 25), Kohli and Dhoni were seen interacting during a practice session at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai.

In a video, which has been going viral on social media, Virat Kohli can be seen walking towards MS Dhoni, before giving him a warm hug. The official Twitter page of the RCB also shared pictures of the duo with the caption reading: “Just a couple of LEGENDS catching up at practice.”

It must be noted that Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni are known to share a great bond and the duo never hold back while praising each other. Soon after Dhoni decided to resign as the CSK skipper on March 24, Kohli took to social media and penned a heartfelt note for the former Indian skipper. Captioning the picture, Virat Kohli wrote: “Legendary captaincy tenure in yellow skip. A chapter fans will never forget. Respect always.”

Meanwhile, former CSK opener Faf du Plessis will be leading RCB in IPL 2022, aiming to take the three-time finalists to the elusive title. On the other hand, Dhoni has handed over the reins to all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who has been an integral part of the franchise since the 2012 season.
