The Indian cricket is yet to receive any clarity regarding the availability of the five isolated players for the third Test match and amid this, a report has suggested that India captain, Virat Kohli, and all-rounder Hardik Pandya also breached the COVID-19 protocols before they left for India.

According to the reports of smh.com.au, the duo went out to a baby shop on December 7 without a mask. As per the COVID-19 protocols, both the Indian cricketers should have had the mask on.

The report adds that the matter wasn’t reported as the breach was a minor one. Australia is one of the countries where the COVID-19 situation is under control. Though the restrictions are still in place and the players have to follow the guidelines for the smooth conduct of the series.

Kohli and his wife, Anushka Sharma, are expected to welcome their first child soon. Pandya was blessed with a baby boy before he flew to UAE for IPL 2020. He only took part in the T20I ODI series and returned to India after six matches. Kohli was also part of the Test squad for the series opener and returned after that.

Since none of the cricketing bodies took action back then, the matter will not be raised now. But the ongoing controversy regarding the five Indian cricketers is still very much on and the BCCI hasn’t delivered a final word on the players. Rohit Sharma, Prithvi Shaw, Shubman Gill, Navdeep Saini, and Rishabh Pant are currently under isolation and will train separately.

The third Test of the four-match series kicks off on January 7. The series is currently leveled at 1-1. India lost the pink-ball Test before making a spectacular comeback in the Boxing Day Test match. Ajinkya Rahane is leading the Indian team in Kohli’s absence.
