In the ongoing clash between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians, Rajat Patidar’s bat may not have been ablaze throughout IPL 2024, but his towering six caught the attention of none other than Virat Kohli. During the tenth over of RCB’s innings, facing MI skipper Hardik Pandya, Patidar showcased his power-hitting prowess.

With Pandya bowling diligently, Patidar patiently built up to the moment. Then, on the fourth delivery of the over, he unleashed a mighty swing, sending the ball soaring over the long-on boundary for a colossal six. The shot left Kohli visibly impressed, a testament to its magnitude.

However, RCB’s batting innings had a shaky start after being put into bat by MI. Losing the wickets of Kohli and debutant Will Jacks early on put them in a tough spot. Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Kohli cheaply for just three runs, while Akash Madhwal accounted for Jacks with eight runs to his name, leaving RCB struggling at 23 for 2.

Yet, the partnership between Faf du Plessis and Rajat Patidar injected stability into RCB’s innings. The duo steadied the ship with an 82-run partnership for the third wicket. However, their momentum was interrupted when Gerald Coetzee dismissed Patidar for a well-made 50 in the 12th over.

Shortly after, Shreyas Gopal struck again for MI, removing Glenn Maxwell for a duck, further denting RCB’s progress. As the match progresses, RCB finds themselves at 113/4 in the 14th over, looking to rebuild their innings and post a competitive total against their formidable opponents.
