The Indian skipper, Virat Kohli asserted that he is confident that the visitors will be making a strong comeback when they take on Australia in the Boxing Day Test. Virat conceded that it would have been great had India won the Pink-ball Test before he heads back home on paternity leave but said things can only improve for the team after such a forgettable batting performance.
Virat Kohli will be coming back to Indian to join his wife and Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma for the birth of their first child. However, he is confident that other players in the team will realize their potential and help India fare better in the 2nd Test. When asked if his absence and Ajinkya Rahane’s not so good outing in Adelaide will only make it even tougher after the manner in which India lost the Pink-ball Test, Kohli played down the concerns.
The India skipper said senior players in the side will realize their true character and make some amends in the Boxing-day Test.

During the post-match press conference, Kohli said, “Well, look I would definitely have loved it for a fact if he had won this game. But this is Test cricket, anything can happen at any stage. I am pretty confident that the team is going to bounce back strongly in Melbourne. Few of the guys realize their true characters and how they can step up for the team. I am definitely confident we will learn from this.”
He further added, “I don’t think we have ever had a worse batting performance so we can only go up from here and understand we can do special things as a team when we think of partnerships and think of batting together. I am very confident we will bounce back in Melbourne, you will see guys stepping up and realizing their true character and doing their true job for the team.”
