Undoubtedly, the Indian men’s cricket team skipper Virat Kohli is India’s highest-paid athletes in this year and he is chasing his former national team captain and present limited-overs wicketkeeper MS Dhoni’s record – the highest earning by an Indian athlete ever.

Recently, the American business magazine, Forbes released “The World’s Highest-Paid Athletes -2018 ranking” where the 30-year-old Indian men’s cricket team skipper Virat Kohli is standing at no.83 with estimated earnings $24 million in the last 12 months. In fact, Kohli is the only Indian as well as the only cricketer to be featured in this top 100 list.

American boxer Floyd Mayweather is on top of this list with the earning of $285 million (Salary/Winning: $275 million; Endorsements: $10 million). World top two footballers Lionel Messi (total earning $111 million) and Cristiano Ronaldo (total earning $108 million) are in the second and third position respectively. Earlier, Ronaldo was on top of this list in last two year (2016 and 2017).

The 30-year-old Indian skipper Virat Kohli has estimated earnings of $24 million – Salary/Winning: $4 million and Endorsement: $20 million. Currently, Kohli has endorsed with 21 brands including Tissot, Audi, Puma, Uber and Hero. Kohli is now close to beat MS Dhoni’s highest ever earning record as an Indian athlete and that was $31 million in 2015.

Virat Kohli first came in limelight when the Indian U19 cricket team won the 2008 ICC U19 Cricket World under his captaincy. Soon in that year, Kohli made his international cricket debut through the ODI cricket. He made his T20I debut in 2010 and Test debut around one year later. He was an important player during India’s victory in the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup and the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy.

Currently, the right-handed batsman is the top-ranked Test and ODI batsman. He has played 73 Tests, 216 ODIs and 65 T20Is where he has scored 6,331 runs (average 54.57), 10,232 runs (average 59.83) and 2,167 runs (average 49.25) respectively.
