With the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 going towards its end, once again Faf du Plessis-led Royal Challengers Bangalore failed to win the title. However, they failed to reach the playoffs as well. They played their last game of the league game against defending champions Gujarat Titans, and despite Kohli’s stunning ton in the first innings, Gill’s swashbuckling century during the run chase sealed the deal for GT.

Following the heartbreaking exit from the IPL 2023, veteran batter Virat Kohli took to social media and thanked the fans for their unparalleled support for RCB as well. “A season which had its moments, but unfortunately we fell short of the goal, disappointed, but we must hold our heads high. To our loyal supporters, grateful for backing us every step of the way. A big thank you to the coaches, management, and my teammates. We aim to be back stronger,” Kohli wrote on Instagram.

Moreover, Royal Challengers Bangalore also took to their official social media handle and shared their gratitude to the entire team and added that they would look to return stronger in the forthcoming seasons. “We thank each and every member of RCB for putting in tireless efforts and for staying committed to Playing Bold on and off the field. We’ll continue to get better and come back stronger to entertain our lovely fans. Thank you, #ClassOf2023!” Royal Challengers Bangalore tweeted.

However, RCB missed out on the knockout stages after their six-wicket loss against Gujarat Titans. The loss saw them finish in sixth place in the IPL points table with 14 points in just as many matches as well with a net run rate of +0.135. They would have finished in fourth if they had won against Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians would have knocked out then due to poor run rate.
