Virat Kohli was going through a bad phase for last few matches as after scoring an 82*in his first match, he failed to score well in the last two ODIs. But in the fourth ODI scored his 29th ODI ton.

India opener Rohit Sharma was not far behind as he brought up his 13th ODI hundred, second of the series. It was after the quick dismissal of Dhawan that both Kohli and Rohit took the charge to rip apart Lankan bowling attack. Virat played yet another scintillating innings to become the youngest player to score 2000 ODI runs against an opposition.

With an average of 100.46 while chasing in ODI as captain Virat Kohli equals the record of scoring 29 centuries with Sanath Jayasuriya. He is now in the third position just behind Ricky Ponting(30) and Sachin Tendulkar(49).

He also overtook Faf Du Plessis in the number of runs scored in a single calendar year. He reached his fifty in the 11th over and kept up the momentum as bowlers felt miserable to tackle him up.

Kohli was dismissed by Malinga as he took his 300th ODI wicket. India will look forward winning this ODI too but Lankans have to give the fight to win and qualify for 2019 World Cup.
