Former Indian skipper, Virat Kohli has showered praises on the Football legend, Cristiano Ronaldo after his performance against PSG and lashed out at football experts who came hard on the Portuguese star in recent times. Ronaldo once again reminded the football world of his talent on Thursday when he scored a couple of goals while captaining a team comprised of Al Nassr and Al Hilal players against Lionel Messi’s Paris St Germain.
Despite his team’s 5-4 defeat, it was a highly entertaining game for fans as long-time rivals Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi shared the pitch for possibly the last time. Ronaldo, dressed in blue, scored a flawless penalty and celebrated with his trademark ‘Siu’ celebration before scoring again from a rebound to begin a new chapter in his career a month after a disappointing World Cup campaign.
In his latest Instagram post, Virat Kohli wrote: “Still doing it at the highest level at 38. The football experts sitting and criticizing him every week for attention are conveniently quiet now that he’s put in this kind of performance against one of the top clubs in the world. And he was apparently finished.”
Kohli has often expressed his admiration for Cristiano Ronaldo. A lot of fans have even compared Kohli to the Portuguese football legend due to his obsession with fitness and his status as one of the best players of his generation.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli appears to have rediscovered his form after more than three years of not scoring a century, during which time he also went through an alarming slide, particularly in T20 cricket.
The 34-year-old broke his century drought in the Asia Cup by scoring his maiden ton in T20Is. Since then, he has scored three centuries in four one-day internationals, two of which were back-to-back. Kohli is now three centuries short of matching Sachin Tendulkar’s record for most tonnes in the format.
