Virat Kohli Recalls His First Day At The Indian Dressing Room

Since the time Virat Kohli has led the Indian U-19 squad to lift the World Cup in 2008, there has been no looking back for him. There is no doubt about the fact that he is the best from the current pool of cricketers, even some of the cricket fans also believe that he is already the legend in the making. He is the most likely batsman to break the records of the legendary batsman and his idol Sachin Tendulkar. However, the skipper of the Indian team still remembers his first day with the senior members of the Indian cricket team.

As far as his habits on the field are concerned, Kohli is never far away from the action. More than playing the game he likes to getting involved in the game as much as possible and that makes him the most dedicated player while fielding as well. His chutzpah has been lauded by many but he has taken a lot of efforts to become successful at the international level over the last 10 years.

Virat was first selected into the Indian in 2008 after returning as the World Cup winning skipper of the U19 team in the same year. He has now revealed his feelings when he was picked for the national side and cleared that he felt it was a rumor.

According to the reports of Times Now, Kohli said, “I clearly remember sitting with my mom and watching the news on the day of the selection meeting. My name just flashed on the TV but I thought they might just be spreading a rumour or something like that. Then five minutes later, I got a call from the Board that I had been selected. I got goosebumps. I was shaking. It was a very special day.”

The Indian skipper also remembers his first day in the dressing room and how the presence of the senior players made him nervous. Revealing about the same, he said, “I clearly remember walking into the team meeting. I was asked to give a speech in the team room. It was nerve-wracking for me with so many great Indian players there. They were looking at me. Which we now do to younger guys to intimidate them, make them nervous (smiles). These are my first memories.”
