Virat Kohli once again grabbed the spotlight with his entertaining on-field antics during the first ODI between India and New Zealand at Eden Park. The Indian batting stalwart delighted fans by recreating WWE legend John Cena’s iconic ‘You Can’t See Me’ gesture during the match, adding a touch of humour to the intense contest.

The incident took place during New Zealand’s innings when Glenn Phillips and Daryl Mitchell were attempting to build a partnership. Fielding inside the ring, Kohli appeared to lock eyes with the batters before waving his hand across his face in Cena’s trademark style.

The cheeky gesture immediately caught the attention of television cameras and commentators, while his teammates were also seen enjoying the moment. Kohli’s playful interaction reflected the competitive but entertaining atmosphere on the field as India looked to break New Zealand’s momentum.

The gesture was particularly fitting given Phillips’ connection with professional wrestling. The New Zealand batter has previously embraced John Cena’s popularity by walking out to his famous entrance theme, ‘The Time Is Now’, during home-series milestones. Kohli’s tribute therefore added another entertaining chapter to the friendly banter between the two players.

Meanwhile, India’s disciplined bowling attack kept New Zealand under pressure throughout their innings in the opening ODI at Eden Park. After being asked to bat first, the hosts struggled to establish control against India’s consistent lines and lengths.

Anshul Kamboj and Axar Patel delivered economical spells during the middle overs, making it difficult for the New Zealand batters to accelerate. Arshdeep Singh led the bowling effort with figures of 4/70, while Gurnoor Brar claimed three wickets for 44 runs.

Glenn Phillips attempted to stabilise the innings with a fighting 30, but regular wickets prevented New Zealand from building a substantial partnership. Blair Tickner provided some late momentum with a quickfire 34 off 23 deliveries. His contribution helped New Zealand reach 185 before being bowled out, setting India a target of 186 to win the first ODI.
