The Indian skipper Virat Kohli has found himself in the middle of a controversy after telling “non-Indian” cricket fans to leave the country, according to a video that has gone viral on social media. Recently, he launched his mobile app on his 30th birthday on November 5. He read out social media messages and gave an uncalled reaction after reading a particular tweet on his app.
The tweet of the fan read, “Over-rated batsman and personally I see nothing special in his batting. I enjoy watching English and Australian batsmen more than these Indians.”
Replying to the same, Virat said: “Okay, I don’t think you should live in India then…you should go and live somewhere else, no? Why are you living in our country and loving other countries? I don’t mind you not liking me but I don’t think you should live in our country and like other things. Get your priorities right.”
Is #Kohli asking his non-Indian fans to leave their country and come to India🤔🤔.. Or to sort their priorities? #WTF pic.twitter.com/tRAX4QbuZI

Ever since his first steps towards the glory, Kohli has come a long way now — from leading the country’s U-19 team to World Cup glory back in 2008 to leading India’s charge in dominating the world of cricket in all forms of the game. As the captain of the team, Virat has a habit of leading with example and his obsession with fitness is no secret. He spends hours at the gym, watches what he eats and expects his men to do the same.
Virat Kohli’s response has drawn a huge amount of criticism from social media users and here are some of the tweets –
The latest blabbering by @imVkohli shouldn't be taken too seriously.
In the month of November, he tends to go off the rails.
This is nothing compared to what he said 2 years ago. 😲🤔😋 pic.twitter.com/WqElQmrohj— Akash Banerjee (@akashbanerjee) November 7, 2018
Unexpectedly churlish of Virat to go down this route. Millions from other countries idolise him. https://t.co/gw6ZAX3EFo

@imVkohli @ICC @CAComms @ECB_cricket isn't it our democracy and rights to love a player of our own choice. Just coz we are from India it doesn't mean we should hate other countries.
Can you make a video again and tell that other than Indians none should like our country? pic.twitter.com/JoUIQw4zkl— Anirudh karthik (@Anirudh_d_jack) November 7, 2018
Kohli ,Gambhir and Sehwag all live up to the expectations of stereotypical Delhi boys. All Dumb and obnoxious as they come. https://t.co/DtAsh9bD4n

This is rubbish from.Kohli.
I like Lara than Tendulkar. I like Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Ambrose than any other Indian fast bowlers. It's my wish and I live in Tamilnadu.— Jayakumar Dhandapani (@JayakumarDhanda) November 7, 2018
The tweet was mean and it might as well be a PR Stunt but Kohli's logic is ridiculous.Indians have enjoyed and will continue to embrace world class cricketers across boundaries. #Kohli
