Virat Kohli’s masterful knock while chasing helped Team India secure a four-wicket victory over New Zealand and the top spot in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup after making it five wins from five. Ahead of India’s crucial game against the defending champions England, speaking exclusively to Star Sports show “Follow the Blues”, Kohli shared his views on how to develop an “elite mentality” and discussed his secrets to being consistent on the field.

“I have always worked on how I can be better myself every day, every practice session, every year and every season. So, that is what has helped me play for this long and perform. I don’t think it is possible to perform consistently without having that mindset, because if performance is your goal, then one can get satisfied after a while, and stop working on their game,” Virat Kohli said.

“It has always been my motto to chase betterment I would say, and not excellence, because I honestly don’t know what the definition of excellence is. There is no limit to it, nor there is a set standard that when you reach here you have achieved excellence. So, I try to work towards betterment every day, so that would be a better word to use. And yes, performance becomes a by-product, because your mindset is how do I make the team win from here,” he added.

Virat Kohli’s advice is simple but profound. If you want to be successful, you need to constantly strive to be better. There is no room for complacency or satisfaction. You need to be willing to put in the hard work and dedication every day, even when it’s difficult.

This is the mentality that has helped Kohli become one of the greatest batsmen of all time. He is never satisfied with his current level of performance, and he is always looking for ways to improve. This is what makes him so dangerous for opponents, and it’s what makes him such a valuable asset to his team.

Kohli’s advice is relevant to anyone who wants to be successful in life, not just cricketers. If you want to achieve your goals, you need to have the same mindset. You need to be willing to put in the hard work and dedication, even when it’s difficult. You need to be constantly striving to be better.
