Virat Kohli Reveals Wriddhiman Saha Is Fit To Play The Mumbai Test

On Thursday, the Indian skipper, Virat Kohli confirmed that the wicket-keeper batter, Wriddhiman Saha has recovered from his neck niggle and will be available for selection for the second Test between India and New Zealand, which is scheduled to be commencing at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Friday.

During a media interaction ahead of the Mumbai Test, Virat Kohli said, “As of now, he (Saha) is fit. He has recovered from his neck spasm and is absolutely fine. There is a weather change, and we have to take that into account, and we have to pick the combination accordingly. At the end of the day, you cannot predict whether conditions will remain like this over the five days. So, we need to see what bowling combination should be picked that can tackle in different conditions.”

Stiffness in the neck did not allow the Indian wicket-keeper batter, Wriddhiman Saha to take the field on day five of the first Test against New Zealand on Monday at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. KS Bharat, who could make his debut on Friday, kept the wickets in his absence.

Wriddhiman Saha also played a fighting knock of 61 not out on day four to put India in a strong position after the hosts lost five wickets for 51 runs. However, the opening Test eventually ended in a draw as India only managed to take 9 wickets in the 4th innings when Day 5 ended.

Talking about the same, India’s bowling coach, Paras Mhambrey said, “The physios are in touch constantly with the head coach Rahul (Dravid) and obviously Virat (Kohli) now and as we get closer to the game, we will take a call and see what condition he is in.”
