Kohli scored a fighting fifty in India’s second innings during the second Test as the hosts managed to pull off a massive wi by 317 runs in Chennai. The win ensured India go into the day-night Test at the Sardar Patel Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad, with the four-match Test series level at 1-1.

Till now, the Indian team has played a couple of day-night Test matches, one each at home and overseas. While they managed to beat Bangladesh in their maiden pink-ball Test in 2019, they suffered a dramatic batting collapse in their first overseas day-night Test in Adelaide against Australia and lost the match by eight wickets.

With both teams fighting for a place in the World Test Championship final, the last two Tests become all the more important and neither of the two teams can afford to bat an eyelid. The hosts can’t afford to lose any more Test matches if they want to reach the final of the World Test Championship summit clash against New Zealand, to be played at the Lord’s in June later this year.
